Herzogliches Bräustüberl

One of the most famous restaurants in Upper Bavaria tempts with traditional Bavarian cuisine

Guests have always been welcome in Tegernsee, back to the time of the monastery: tired travellers were taken in and fed here centuries ago. These days the tradition continues in Tegernsee Castle – in the Herzogliches Bräustüberl (Ducal Brewery). As soon as you enter the large, rustic restaurant and you're your place at one of the well-scrubbed wooden tables, you notice the unique atmosphere, a combination of tradition and tolerant openness, which characterise the special charm of the Bräustüberl. But this old Bavarian magic can be found not only in the large hall, but also in the two smaller rooms: the cosy Sudhaus and the comfy little Stüberl provide a more intimate but no less splendid location for many festivities. Furthermore, the generous patio attracts many guests in summer. This is the best place to enjoy a cool Tegernsee beer from the on-site brewery.

In line with the motto "eating and drinking keep body and soul together", there are plenty of delights for the palette in the Bräustüberl. This is ensured each day by the head chef Roland Hennemann and his team. Their typical Bavarian delicacies are more than merely a "basis" for the beer. The restaurant has long been famous for its tasty snacks, excellent warm meals, and tempting desserts.

In the process, the top priority of Peter Huber, who has run the Bräustüberl since 2003, is: whether radish, sausages, hearty knuckles of pork, homemade apple cake or fine, smoked Tegernsee filet of char – only local products are used. Incidentally, the boss' favourite delicacy is the fine beef tartar.
