Concrete wave pool
Munich’s newest skatepark Im Gefilde in Ramersdorf-Perlach was built in 2011. At the so-called flow facility, people can learn how to skate like in the good old Dogtown times – the flowing, gliding movements are quite similar to those needed to ride a surfboard. The soft shapes and many lines make the Gefilde the perfect playground for beginners.

Munich’s 900 m² large, easy-to-reach, 1.2 million Euro gem is situated in the Hirschgarten park in the west of Munich. This skate facility offers a range of obstacles – a rare fullpipe, a clover-leaf pool and many extras – and is therefore a haven for traditional pool skaters.

Banks and blooms
A smaller, more modest and idyllic location can be found in the east of Munich: here, a small concrete skatepark is located on the former area of the Bundesgartenschau (German Federal Horticultural Show) in Riem – among expert skaters, the place is simply called BuGa. Rails, curbs, quarters etc. have a reasonable height and are ideal for practising. In addition, the park itself is hardly ever crowded. Another advantage: you can go for a refreshing swim in the BuGa Lake when you need to cool down.

20-inch paradise
The skatepark in Lohhof is without a doubt an El Dorado for BMX-riders and well-known far beyond the borders of Bavaria. This huge playground made up of ramps, quarters, funbox, rails and gaps has just the perfect size for small bikes. Even Xgames participants such as Daniel Dhers have used this facility. Since the park needs a lot of care and attention and is not open all the time, it is best to contact the 360 Grad-Sportshop before paying a visit (Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! The following applies equally to all types of sport: safety first! Do not do anything risky without a helmet and protective pads. And, in Munich, it is easy to keep to the action sport code of “Support your local shop”. There are two addresses you should remember: if you are a BMX-enthusiast, visit Countrybikes on Erzgießerstraße 22. The staff are always well up to date on all the up-coming events and insider news. Skateboarders and everyone who wants to be one will love Boarder’s in the shopping centre Stachus Passagen, shop 41.
